Catholic Schools Day- 22nd May

We celebrated Catholic Schools day with a Mass at 9.30am with Our Lady of the Snows School from Methven.
After play we walked down to St Vincent de Paul with the food and clothing items that had been donated by the families in the Junior Syndicate.

We loved being able to give to St Vincent de Paul. It feels great to help others in  need.

Rona and the Moon

We retold the story of Rona and the Moon .
We made a sensational job.
Kaimana was the Narrator ( he told the story)  and the rest of the class acted out the different scenes.

We made tiki to wear around our necks and and Mrs Prendergast came and painted moko on our faces. This helped us to be believable as the character of Rona.

They help  people because God said he wants us to love and care for others.

They help by giving food, clothing , blankets, vouchers for nappies and baby milk to people who do not have enough money.

They are Generous and compassionate people.

She works hard to help keep our Earth healthy by....

recycling

reducing waste in our rubbish dumps

OUR HERO- The volunteer fire fighter.

Our local volunteer fire fighter Mr Wakelin came and talked to us about his job as a fire men.

This is what some of us wrote after his visit.

Are firemen heroes?
Yes , because they take up their time for others. They have to work 24 hours and 7 days a week. They have to go into dangerous situations.
If they can't open your door they will kick it open.

Lucy

Are firemen heroes?

Yes, because firemen persevere by trying to blow the fire out and they are heroes because they help people that are in serious danger. They even show the virtues to everyone in the whole wide world and they volunteer.
When they can't get through the door they get an axe or a sledge hammer or they go through the windows and they can kick down the doors.
